GWEN GREENs - Lok's Sceptor (fire wand) WTF?
If I didnt tell you that fire wand was a green called 'Lok's Sceptor' you would think I was just holding a normal, average, boring Tyrian fire wand! Why? because Anet went to all the trouble of re-using one of the most bog-standard skins in the entire game on a GWEN green!
If that doesnt reach the bottom of the barrel I really dont know what does! We already! I would now like to point your attention to guildwiki..
Fire wand
Lok's sceptor
Rago's flame wand
Frost Artifact
Flint's artifact
...see any similarities? Does Anet really hate elementals?
I accept that elementals do have alot of nice greens ingame, throughout all the campaigns, but why do they have to throw in these duds? That was my first green drop in GWEN and I was excited until I looked at and read its stats!
You should be able to spot a green weapon a mile off and know whether a person is using one!

Yeah at least the should have made the rago's wand as a single dragon head wand, consider the counterpart is a double dragon staff. That bloody green sword with dead sword skin is rather meh! as well.
Reskin is bad, not even bother to reskin is 10 times worst. I heard the weapon designer guy is ill though. He has a ignavus-bone commonly know as lazy-bone.

Where are the times when people worshiped greens for just having perfect stats.

Lok's sceptor...
HSR 20%
+5 energy while enchated!
...its not even worth worshiping on its stats alone! The re-skin just makes that 100 times worse. Im honestly trying to get into the mind-frame of Anet and their design team and think "why should I add a weapon with an old skin and crap stats?", and I cant think of a reason why it was added!
There are far better gold weapon drops!
And yeah I need to breath.... ive ran off about 5 threads in 2 days! *calm*

Some of us still do, greens are cheap, farmable (generally) and always perfect.
The whole 'skin' thing cant seem to get me excited.

True, I get my hero weapons from tombs of the primeval kings. But yes, more skins are just copies from old ones. The ritualist staff you get when you finish GWEN resembles prophecies' Kephkets Refuge pretty well :P

What's a skin? No seriously, I don't understand why people care about the skin of their equipment. Unless it is something that will cause lasting damage looking at it, it's fine for me. I've never understood paying more for looks alone, either.

Its more the principle of it.
With Lok's sceptor, it isnt just that the skin is a rehash of the most basic and common fire staff skin. Its also the fact, that the stats absolutely suck ass!!
You really have to question why it exists! If the wand had really, really good stats I could maybe get over it and be fine. Im not that obessed with skins personally. But the stats just make you want to cringe.

So are the stats on most drops, really. And think about it, if Greens didn't have various permutations on their stats, most of the greens would just be duplicates, more so than now.

Fixed it for you
Personally I couldn't care less if a green has the same skin as something else. Most greens are. I would rather (× infinity +1) rather have a wand with the skin the OP has, than a VILE green weapon with the Blazing Wing Wand skin.

To be fair, HOW good are a wand's stats generally? There is SUCH little variation in wand mods it's hardly surprising that it doesn't have any "special" mods on. After all, how special do a wand's mods get? HSR/+5^50? HCT/HSR maybe? ...woot. -_-
What bugs me when it comes to ANet's choice of weapon mods is collector weapons. These can be a good and nutricious source of hero-weapons, but most seem to have the most retarded mods on...like +7 energy while hexed wands, and staves with 15^50 mods on...WHO in their right mind wants a 15^50 staff? O.o Spirit's Strength "Staff of Death"?

hm i thought the stats were pretty cool... i always have some aura on my ele so the +5 is guaranteed. and HSR 20% can come in pretty handily for fire magic no?
i'd use it actually. skin is meh, but hey it was a drop and is free.

Agree with what you were saying, but I'm a sucker for skin though. lol
Look at the rose green focus from gwen's master quest. Now that's a skin.

Well other don't care about the weapon stats (because every weapon beats a 15^50 one if it is customized) skins are about as important as special armor for most people.
BTW there are a lot of weapon skins no one uses because they are "common". Use a simple gladius as a warrior and you might have a weapon no one else has.

I don't like the re-use of common skins on green items.
If you look on the wiki at the greens just about everyone says...
This item can be reproduced exactly with an X and a Y from Z
since there are limited number of mods items can have, the only thing they can do to make a green specific to a boss is change the skin.
I know there is only so much development time etc but if you are going to create a boss (maybe just using a reskin even) give it a skill set , an elite , give it a name why not spend that bit of time on a unique skin - doesn't have to be a great skin , just different

People care about the skin for the same reason people care about farming for 15k and FoW armor sets.
If A.Net spends time creating something like "elite looking" armors, with no beneficial stats, people expect to see the same kind of concern in weapons.
And I fully agree with the OP.
